On The Road - Driving around the Southwest

Created June 23, 2001

Between our destinations (Santa Fe, Taos, and the national Parks), there are not much along the way. However, sometimes the barren scenery of the Southwest is a special experience itself. The greatest experience, of course, is driving across the Monument Valley!
Sancturio de Chimayo
  • On our way from Santa Fe to Taos, we visited a small village called Chimayo. It is said that earth inside this church (Sancturio de Chimayo) has magic healing healing power. I did touch the earth a little bit (but didn't take any of it with me). Maybe it will heal my broken heart....
A typical country road in New Mexico
  • A typical country road in New Mexico: barren, acrid, but not completely desert-like. It seemed that I looked happy just being there...
Mountain Road in Colorado-
  • A mountain road in Colorado. Not specially scenic, but very pleasant.
Visiting four states at the same time-
  • I was phisically in four states (Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah) at the same time.
A Unique Rock Formation-
  • A unique rock formation on our way from Monticello to Moab (for Arches National Park). It looks like a Chinese ceramics. No arch here...
Approaching the Monument Valley
  • We were approaching the Monument Valley from Utah side. It might surprse you, but I did the driving that time.
  • Me standing in front of the Monument Valley.
Passed the Monument Valley
  • Now we passed the Monument Valley and at the Arizona side.
  • And I couldn't wait to take another picture at the Arizona side...

More to come......
