Golden Triangle is where Mae Sai River joins Mekong River and where two rivers form borders of three countries: Thialnd, Burma, and Laos. Long been infamous for poppy growing and heroin traffics, it is a little scary for me to visit there. However, all the drug activities have been cleaned up in the past few years (at least on Thai side). This area is quite peaceful at this moment.....
This is also the first time I had chance to sail on Mekong River, one of the most important rivers that cultivate great ancient civilization.

The Golden Triangle Monument. It is Laos on the other side of the river.
The map of Golden Triangle Area: Yellow part is Thailand, Pink part is Laos, and the dark green part is Burma.
View of Laos (at the right) and Burma (at left, where the red-roofed casino is) from the resort hotel we had lunch. The weather is very bad that day. 從泰國遠眺寮國與緬甸。
A resort hotel right at the tip of Golden Triangle. We had our lunch there.
This is the view I had when we were on the small boat across Mekong to Laos. It felt more scary than it looked. 我們就是搭這艘小船在金三角區繞來繞去,後來在寮國的小島登陸。
Arrived at Laos by a small boat. Even though I was only on this small Laos Island for less than an hour, it counted as another new country I visited. 跨過湄公河到寮國的小島一遊。這樣又算去了一個新的國家。
With Golden Trianle right behind me. 隔著一條河,後面又是另一個國家了。
