Another Summer in the Southern Hemisphere -
My Trip to South America 2006

Finally, another summer spent in the Southern Hemisphere. And finally, I could travel to three countries I had always wanted to travel to: Argentina, Brazil, and Chile!

Eventually I chose Dragoman as my tour opeartor for this grand trip. I am a little regretful about this decision. Originally I would like to choose "G.A.P. Adventures" (a Toronto-based company which I booked my Ecuadorian trip with in 2003), but their "Santiago to Rio (via Buenos Aires)" Tour was already full by late December. So I ended up choosing Dragoman for a similar route (with an add-on Carnival package to stay in Rio 5 extra days). It is a reputed overland (so they don't fly from one point to another) company based in U.K. Unfortunately, I am not a camping person but Dragoman tours basically are all camping based. I did suffer a lot from not bringing a comfortable mattress and sleeping bag with me. Since I found Dragoman is not really cheaper than G.A.P. (which staying in cheap hotels instead of camping), I discourage you to travel with them if you dislike camping (and hate to cook for 20 people at one time) like me. I also found most of the Dragoman drivers tend to be chain-smokers, which irritates me.

Despite that it was a long and very tiring trip (5 and an half weeks and stretched more than 5,000 kilometers), I did have great time in this trip (well, sparing the camping and cooking parts). Argentina and Chile is just beautiful, while Brasil has the most gorgeous beaches on earth (with beautiful people on these beaches). After almost 6 months, I finally finished posting my travelogues and pictures on this website. I hope you enjoy them as you read along.

On the top of Corcovardo, where the famous Giant Jesus Christ Statue stands. You can see there are so many, so many tourists there!

This is the Drogoman "Truck" (They don't use the word "bus") we traveled on for more than 4 weeks. It even has a name: Gertie!
