One of the most famous mountains, Sugarloaf Mountain ("Pão de Açúcar" in its original Portuguese) is among the most photogenic sights in Rio de Janeiro. Viewing the city from its peak, it is no doubt that Rio is said to be the one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

On Saturday, we spent the whole day sightseeing mainly two of the most famous sites in Rio. Pão de Açúcar is one of them. You will love those pictures taken from the top of the mountain!

This is what Sugarloaf Mountain looks like (It was viewed from an even higher mountain - Corcovado). No, Hsiang, this is not a "Turtle." Calling it "Turtle Mountain" just sounds too ordinary. The smaller, flatter hill in front of Sugarloaf is Morro da Urca. We had to take two cable cars, first to Morro da Urca, and then the second to the top of Pão de Açúcar.

When we reached the foot of Sugarloaf, it was shrouded by mist...

Taking a cable car up to the top of Morro da Urca.

View of the cresent shaped Copacabana Beach and Vermelha Beach (foreground at the right) from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain.

You can see even Copacabana Beach is surrounded by mountains.

Nice view of Copacabana Beach at left, a cable car and Morro da Urca at foreground, and the Bay of Guanabara at right. Can you find the Giant Jesus Statue in this picture?

There were a lot, a lot of tourists on the viewing platform of Sugarloaf Mountain!

View of Rio's most famous landmark: The Giant Jesus Statue (it does not look too giant from this distance) on top of Corcovado Mountain, a much taller mountain than Sugaloaf.

Time to get onto Corcovado to get closer to Jesus Christ.
