Iguazú Falls -
from the Argentine Side

Finally! The Iguazú Falls, one of the highlights I looked most forward to in this whole South American Trip.

Iguazú Falls are actually not a single waterfall but multiple of them. It is called Iguazú because the waterfalls are on the Iguazú River. Before reaching the falls, the river divides into many channels with hidden reefs, rocks, and islands separating the many visually distinctive cascades that form this Iguazu cataratas. All the cascades are more than 2 km across.

Since Iguazú River divides Argentina from Brazil, the waterfalls also distribute across both countries. However, most of the falls are inside Argentina (including the crown jewel of the Iguazú - Devil's Throat). to see the individual fall very close-up, Argentine side offers a better view. However, to have a panoramic view of the whole waterfalls, Brazilian side offers a better location. I was glad we would see the Falls from both sides. Both sides designate the Waterfalls area as a national park (Parque Nacional Iguazú in Argentina, and Parque Nacional do Iguaçu in Brasil...well, these two countries speak different languages).

In Argentine Parque Nacional Iguazú, there are several well-marked walking trails. We took both Circuito Inferior (Lower Trail) and Circuito Superior (Upper Trails) to have close-up views of a group of smaller waterfalls.

At one end of the Lower Trail, we also took a speed boat to get very close to the San Martin Fall and Salto Tres Mosqueteros (Three Musketeers Falls). That made me very, very wet...

View of a group of smaller waterfalls (Salto Bossetti, Salto Eva, Salto Mbigua etc.) from the Park's Lower Trail (Circuito Inferior).

Pictures of the same group of waterfalls from Higher part of Circuito Inferior. The largest one at the lower left edge is Salto San Martin (San Martin Fall). However, it is blocked by the jungle here.

Now Salto San Martin is revealed after I got closer. Wow! It definitely looks powerful!

Nice view of me with the Falls from the higher part of Circuito Inferior.

Maybe I was just too overjoyed to be finally at the Iguazu Falls (look groofy here, just like those blue-footed boobies on my shirt).

Getting very close to some of the waterfalls at Circuito Inferior.

Close-up view of San Martin Fall from Circuito Superior

Taking a speed boat for a much closer view of the falls. Just as we were leaving, it started to rain..

Nice view of San Martin Fall ahead.

Right ahead of us, hidden in the heavy mist is "Devil's Throat" (the largest fall among all of the Iguazú
