The town of Bariloche itself is an interesting place (more interesting than Pucon, Chile I think). It is the center of Argentine Lake District with a lot of decent hotels and tour organizers. For a town popular with tourists, it also has some great restaurants and bars.

To make this town feel even more "Swiss," it is also renowned for its chocolates. There are dozens of chocolate specialty stores around town. The most famous one is of course "Del Turista." they even have branches in Buenos Aires.

On a bus back to Bariloche from Cerro Campanario, I overheard an elderly American man saying "I should buy a house and retire here..."

A Swiss style stone gate at the east side of Centro Civico (Civil Central Square). The beautiful square was designed by famous Argentine architect Ezequiel Bustillo.

There are several St. Bernards, posing for photo with tourists. I am not a big St. Bernard fan, so I just took this picture from afar.

The Civic Central Square is actually right next to the Lake Nahuel Huapi.

My first Argentine steak dinner at "El Boliche de Alberto". As a part-time vegetarian, I still enjoyed this meal quite a lot. the steak cost about 18 Argentine Peso ($6) and the red wine (small bottle) cost about 12 pesos ($4). And this is relatively expensive for locals!

After dinner, I did some "chocolate shopping." Del Turista has a quite big store with beautiful display window. The giant models of their famous (Swiss? Bavarian?) couple sitting right in the middle of the window.
