The Sidetrip to Switzerland

On our way back to the U.S. from St. Petersburg, we did have a chance to stopover in Switzerland for about 4 days. This was my third time and my mom's second time to visit Switzerland. It is still so nice and beautiful, and still very expensive.....

Created December, 1997

  • A view of Jungfrau (Young Maid) mountain from Jungfraujoch observatory. wait, maybe it's Eiger mountain.... (Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau three mountains are next to each other)
  • Another picture taken when we visited Jungfraujoch. It was cold and windy up there (but still better than the fall in Russia)
  • Lauterbrunen is a small village on our way from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch. All passegers have to change to smaller mountain trains here. It is not especially scenic, but is a gateway to some awesome glacial falls.
  • This ice cave is located just under the Jungfraujoch Observatory. It was carved out of a glacier. A lot of Japanized ice sculptures there (and more Japanese tourists).
  • A view of Thunersee ('See' means 'lake' in German) from my ferry boat. Thunersee is located between Interlaken and Thun at the west side of Interlaken. I haven't had chance to visit the lake at the east side - Brienzersee.
  • The Swiss sidetrip began and ended at the largest city of switzerland - Zurich. One of the smallest sophisticated cosmopalitan city in the world. It is the Limmat River behind me.

More to come......
