The City of Cuzco

庫斯科的兩種文化面貌

Created June, 1999

Cuzco is the former capital of the Incan Empire. In 16th century after the Spaniard 'conquered' the Incan Empire, they have tried hard to convert Cuzco into a Spanish City with deep Catholic religion. Some of the Incan temple is so solid that Spaniard could only leave them intact. The result is that Cuzco became a city mends both Spanish and Incan flavor. It is one of the most fascinating cities in South America.
Plaza de Armas, Cuzco
  • The Plaza de Armas (Military Square) of Cuzco, maybe one of the most beautiful Spanish-styled squares in the world. Isn't it lovely? I can wander around at this sqaure for a whole afternoon.
Cuzco at night -
  • The Cathedral of Cuzco, just next to the Plaza de Armas. It is flushed with nightlights.
Cuzco at night -
  • Another picture of the Cathedral of Cuzcoat night. Isn't it gorgeous?
Cuzco at night -
  • The Church of Jesuit, also next to the Square. Some say it is more beautiful than the Cathedral....
Calle Lareto, the famous Incan Alley
  • This is the famous Incan alley. It is still maintained what it looked at the Incan days. These giant stonewalls are the faetures of Incan architecture.
  • This cafe was featured in the Conde Nast's Travler magazine. It has the best view overlooking the Plaza de Armas. I spent almost four hours there, reading, writing diary and postcards, having breakfast (pancakes), two cup of Coca tea, lunch (spaghetti and soup)...and it cost me only 6 US dollars!

More to come......
