Sintra and Estoril Coast

Created June, 1999

Just outside of Lisbon, there are some wonderful summer resort. Inside the mountainous area is the town Sintra, with fancy palace and Moorish castle (and very nice pastry shops). Along the Tagus River and Atlantic Coast are Cascais amd Estoril. The westernmost point of Continental Europe, Cabo da Roca, is also not far away from here.
The Moorish Castle near Sintra
  • This castle looks very interesting but I never had chance to visit. It is just too far up there and it might take a whole day's expedition to visit.
A multi-colored square in Cascais
  • Cascias is extremely touristic. Things there are not cheap either. It has some very cheesy restaurants and souvenir shops. Though I was not into it too much, this cute town square still caught my eyes.
Wen-Hung in Cascais
  • This is me in front of Cascais Town Square....
Cliff at Cabo da Roca, the westmost point of Europe
  • A nice view at Cabo da Roca overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. No, this person is not me. I have height phobia, so....
Wen-Hung at Cabo da Roca
  • I'm standing in front of the monument at Cabo da Roca. I don't really understand what it sais on the plaque.
Wen-Hung in front of aquaduct in Elvas, Portugal
  • There are a lot Roman ancient ruins all over Iberian Peninsula. Very near Spanish border, there is a very well-preserved aquaduct in the town of Elvas. Hey, it's me again blocking the view!
