World Expo98 in Lisbon

Created June, 1999

Okay, oaky, I came to Lisbon mainly for Expo98. I was attracted by the huge hype (and its brilliant website) of this Expo and I thought I had to to be there for the last Expo of this century. The interesting features of the Expo was a little bit overblown and the huge crowd and long line were just plain terrifying. But it is my first (and maybe last) Expo experience anyway...
Gil, the mascot of Expo98
  • This cutie, Gil, is the mascot of Expo98. His wavy hair symbolize waves of the oceans. Oceans and the mystery related to it is the theme of Expo98. In this picture, Gil is looking into the window of a Expo souvenir shop in downtown Lisbon.
Wen-Hung at the Expo98 Site
  • I took picture of myself without a tripod, so it didn't seem to work very well. In my background is the cable cars and Tagus River
Utopia Pavillion
  • It shapes like Noah's Ark upside down and accomodate 30,000 people. Possibly a good place for an indoor scoccer game. Those strange things in front of the pavillion are the sea monsters from Portugese fairy tales.

More to come......
