Stockholm, nicknamed "Venice of the North," might be actually more beautiful than the real thing (or at least cleaner). I first visited Stockholm in 1993 (in the same
Contiki Tour that took me to Copenhagen). It is great to re-visit this place after 12 long years have passed. I also had a chance to visit an old friend, whom I hadn't seen for almost 11 years!! There are 64 islands that form the city of Stockholm. The old town, Gamla Stan, itself is loacted on a small island. Across the lake, the Skasen open-air museum (the oldest one in the world), Nordic Museum, and Vassa Museum are located on another island. In June, it doesn't get dark untill after 11pm (Well, that means 'nightlife' starts late). It is a very great place to visit (now my No, 8 city in the world). The downside is: it is also a quite expensive place to visit. Please click the thumbnail on the pictures to see enlarged images |
