After seeing pictures of all those reptiles in Part One, are you ready for something "lighter"? Lighter, means that they can fly. This page is specially for birds on Galapagos. Unfortunately, two species of famous birds, albatross and red-footed booby, whose habitats are on islands much farther away from the island I stayed so was not seen my current trip. Maybe I should take cruise-based tour next time!

Possibly the most admired birds on the islands. "Funny-looking" blue-footed booby have very blue feet and bluish-grey beak. Are these two flirting?
Okay, I'm not interested!
This is what blue-footed booby looks like with their wing spread. This picture was taken on windy Plaza Island.
Another famous species of booby is masked face booby. But I didn't see many. This is the only one I saw at cliff edge on Plaza Island, just outside Santa Cruz Island I stayed.
These two birds look like seagull but have scissor-shaped tail (that's why it's called "swallow-tailed"..). But their most recognizable feature is their red eye-rings!
These two small birds are "Darwin's Finch", named after Charles Darwin. There variation in subspecies across different islands inspired Darwin of his evolution theory. Who could imagine those sparrow-like birds changed scientific thinking?
Male frigatebird on North Seymour Island. I could only get this close to them. Only male birds have the red bulb under their beak.
Dark bird is female frigatebird (so again male bird is more colorful as in many other bird species) and the lighter one is our favorite - funny looking blue-footed booby!.
