Just 25 km north of Quito, it is the Equator Monument (El Mitad del Mundo/Middle of the World). It is where the Equator passes through. Passing this point, you are back to the Northern Hemisphere from the South. It is cheesy in some way, but I enjoyed it!

  • So this is the famous El Middle del Mundo Monument.
A boulevard leading to the monument
  • A boulevard leading to the monument, with busts of some historic figues (I have no idea who they are) line along the way.
Another picture of the Monument
  • Another picture of the Monument. Don't you think the highland sky is really, really blue?
A corner in the park
  • A corner in the El Mitad del Mundo Park. Because it is loacted at high altitude, you feel the clouds is really really low. Most of these small houses are souvenir shops.
  • I just want to lying down, watching the sky and clouds go by...
