Day 4
A Day on the Sea

Date: March 13, 2007
Place: Somewhere in the Middle of Caribbean

Last night, there was a "90's Diva Party" at the poolside (wow, there are a lot of dance parties on this cruise). Though They did not even play any song by Celine Dion (maybe I just missed it!), I still had some good time....Mmm, maybe too much good time. I did not wake up until 1:30 pm! (There are two hours jet lag between the Caribbean and Chicago, so I was, more like, sleep until 11am Chicago Time)

The Reflection Dining Room does open for "Brunch." But they still serve mainly buffet (I was not exactly in mood to take my own plate and stand in line for food). Though their smoked salmon tastes fine. But where is the Egg Florentine (or Benedict) that I desire? Sorry, this is no QE2, and don't be too picky....If Nelson were here, I guess he would have feel disappointed with Royal Caribbean.

Since it is a long way to Aruba (almost a part of South America), we have a whole day at sea today. It is part of the reasons that I did not go to bed til' 4 am (even Brent, who is rarely in the room by 2am, was already sleeping when I came back). However, there seems to be a lot of activities on board today.

First, there is the "Project Runway" Game at the poolside, in which a Heidi Klum look-alike (with a fake and very bad German accent) host the competition. Five groups of contestants had to use bed sheets and linens to design a set of dress, in 25 minutes. They all mostly came out quite bad however. Later, at the same poolside, a late afternoon dance party with "Classic Disco" theme is held. A lot of Donna Summer and Diana Ross were played. Wow, I haven't heard "Ain't No Mountain Higher" for a while (a song possibly older than me)...

Of course, the highlight for tonight's main entertainment in the main theatre, Tropical Theatre, is the 1980's former girls' band sensation - Belinda Carlisle. It is a good choice for our cruise, since most people on the cruise are in their 30's to 40's. Most of the passengers were in their teens and twenties when Go- Go's and Carlisle were at their career peak ( I was in my early teens and just started to learn English). If they invited some disco sensation from 1970's, that would be a little too old and unfamiliar to me (like, mmm..Thelma Houston). The concert lasted only 1 hour, but all the Go Go's and Belinda's most popular songs were performed. Everybody felt quite excited when she started to sing "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed." The concert ended with her only No. 1 song "Heaven Is A Place Earth," with a French cover song " La Vie en Rose" from her new album as the encore song. It feels just like going back to my adolscent years in mid and late 80's (I never had chance to see Belinda in concert in Taipei). I felt so happy, that I actually went back for the second concert an hour later (and I saw I was not the only one)!

Even later that night, like 11pm or midnight, there is another dance party! Fuego Latino Party at the poolside ( ). I did not go and just went back to bed since I hope to spend as much time as possible on the next island tomorrow.

This very popular island, Aruba, will be my 92nd country.
